From April 1998 - September 2002, I prosecuted all adult crimes in Winnebago County.
During that time I came to know Doug as the consummate professional. He has the training and experience to successfully handle the position of Sheriff. Compare his resume with any other. Most importantly he does the work (reports and follow up) needed to bring a criminal case to a successful conclusion.
I have seen too many small police and sheriff departments that appear to be hotbeds of inactivity with the expectation that a paycheck is something one deserves rather than earns. No county needs that. With Doug there will be improvements in policing activity and morale among those in the department. Any department is a reflection of its leaders and with Doug the Winnebago Sheriff's Department will shine.
